This one-day course introduces Water and Wastewater Operators to the best practices for excavation and trenching. The Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requires that a competent person oversee these jobsites. this course instructs the participants about the regulatory requirements for the identification of hazards, soil classification, use of shoring and barrier systems.
Training topics include: site set up procedures, trenching, shoring methods, trench condition safety awareness (weather, soil changes, vibration, spoil bank location, etc.), entry/exit procedures, traffic control, site access control and communications.
